On guard

Had to take a quick sortie into York yesterday and having escaped the madness that is Parliament Street at present I had a short exploration. I came across this handsome chap standing guard at the entrance to College Street, there are several more similar figures dotted around the city, but I'll leave that exploration for another day. On walking back down St Saviourgate to return to my trusty steed (bike) I came across a very unusual tree in the forecourt of the York Unitarian Chapel and also part of an old hospital close to the Dig Centre - I have enlarged the enscription.
