Oh, The Things You Will See
Hubby got word last night that his BIL, husband of his older sister in Meridian, Miss., passed yesterday. Taylor has been ill for awhile so we weren’t surprised to get that news. We will leave here early Sunday morning and head down for his funeral. Hubby will have to purchase a few dressier items before we leave. Luckily, I have several church appropriate outfits here. It is a two day car ride. On the way back, we will stop in TN for a day to visit the kids. Hubby has not seen any of his three siblings for a few years (COVID, etc) as they are all scattered about. Wish their coming together could have been under happier circumstances. We hope to be home nlt next Sunday as that is when our meds run out (so glad we pack for the unexpected!) My sister has promised to help me wrap gifts etc. Today was very sunny but really cold and windy. We stayed in and spent the morning birdwatching. There were so many at the feeders. All of a sudden, the flock of mostly female wild turkeys walked through the front yard-what a sight. The wind ruffled this bird’s feathers. The crew put their heads together to make something with a very old sour dough starter Hoagie gave my sister. There is a loaf of bread in the bread machine. I arranged family pictures on our Christmas letter and cleaned up old e-mail and texts from my phone and laptop. We packed what we could and moved items to the basement that could freeze when the heat is turned off as we leave. The home will be winterized at the end of this trip until around March. We sure are going to miss all the wonders at the farm. Wishing you a calmer day. Thanks for the visit. Please stay safe and healthy. “You know, I don't really understand a suburban environment. I want to be out in the woods, I want to be where it's wild, I want to wake up and hear birds, I want to walk outside and see a gaggle of turkeys bouncing across my lawn - I want to be someplace like that…” - Karen Allen
