Remembering
You may see this and think it's too early for Christmas trees and carols, but it was special.
One of the local Funeral Directors had booked the Methodist Church and invited all the bereaved families they had met this year. It was the one who handled the funeral of The Late Mate. T-L-M's son passed the info to us so we naturally went along.
I WhatsApped them this photo so they could understand where the service had been. A local choir had been asked to come and lead the singing of the carols. It was beautiful and we all were given tags to add our memories of the deceased to the tree. Very moving. The undertakers were there to give a hug to those who were overcome with grief at this point.
The service finished with refreshments and warm mince pies in the adjoining hall, people were able to chat and the mood was very much uplifted at this time. By chance, I had seen an elderly widow we knew and I went and encouraged him to stay for a cuppa. He said he hadn't expected to see anyone he knew so would have just left and walked home, alone.
It always amazes me that the funeral director always says "Hello, Sue" when he sees me! How does he remember a name out of so many? There again, how many folks have their number in Contacts on their phones?
