Early settler
When we first came to Batemans Bay, this restaurant was called The Peppercorn. No prizes for guessing why. Now it's The Blank Canvas, and popular for two reasons: very good tucker and it's right on the waterfront (that's the bay reflected in the window). We dropped by for a coffee and some serenity this morning under a friendly sun.
No-one seems able to tell us how old the peppercorn is but, despite having had two of its main limbs amputated in the interest of safety, it looks to have a good few years left in it yet.
