A brief respite

from the rain.

An early morning run before another full and lengthy day. Just about to drive away to head north to the beach house for a weekend out of the city. So I will be brief myself and come back to this later with more to say.

Taken from Ponsonby Road, and so an other entry for the One Street project. Rangitoto Island can be seen (especially large), and the Sky Tower coloured red, reason unknown to me at this point.

Later EDIT:
Safely in the beach house, which despite the absolute downpours over the last week is completely dry inside. The leak which had bothered us twice or thrice before, has not recurred, meaning that the cause was identified and dealt to. Pohutukawa leaves and stamens getting trapped in the gutters etc and now unable to do so. Much relief.

I am enjoying a local (Matakana area) red, having demolished a cheese and ham toastie while warming up after the trip north. Sold locally (mainly) it is called Back Paddock (the winery is Hawksnest). A blend of Cab Franc and Malbec. Hoping it kills the virus which is attacking my throat at present.

Looking forward to a visit on Sunday from daughters and grandsons in honour of Mother's Day. There will be three mothers here; S, her mother, and our daughter. Mr H was most concerned, however, to collect his Data Stick (which I bought for him when we had them here during the school holidays, and he left behind. No one has been back since.)

On this morning's (very gentle) run along Ponsonby Road, I saw the subject of one of the first photographs I took in the cafe series. A man in a hat reading a book with a long black beside him. Same cafe, same table (or at least same position) outside the cafe. (See man-in-hat in blipfolio.) The original was taken almost two years ago.

Looking forward to massive amounts of reading; agenda for Tuesday and Wednesday. Tonight is a brief respite.
