Pink flowers

The Nikau palm is the most southern-growing palm in the world. It produces pink flowers between November and April, emerging from the trunk just below the lowermost frond. The fruits ripen from February to April, taking up to a year to fully ripen. The berries attract the Kereru; I have posted a couple of photos in recent weeks of a kereru amongst the flowers and berries.
