MISTY MORNING

By Bob Marley and The Wailers

A really lovely day today.  We decided we would re-visit Derwerntwater on a better day, weatherwise today.  When we woke there were blue skies but these were quickly replaced with grey and mist.  We almost abandoned the idea but decided we would go anyway.

On leaving Kents Bank we could see blue skies just beyond Grange so all looking good.  No problems on the roads.  When we go to Ambleside it was very foggy and grey and it continued like that right up untili around Grasmere where we could see blue skies above the mist.  So pressed on.

On passing Thirlmere it was birght blue skies and beautiful mist above the lake.  We arrived at the Lakeside Parking area about 10:40 ad decided we would press on with the walk to Calfclose Bay and not stop for coffee this time, especially as there were already quite a lot of people about.

It was a pleasant walk and such glorious weather.  A bit too bright for photography to be honest so my photos aren't so great as I would like them to be but the most important thing was we had a lovely day and the views and beauty will stay with us.  I really needed the hood for lens today, but as it has a habit of falling off I usually just leave it in the camera bag.  Today I must have left it at home, so I had to use my hand as a diffuser when I could but that then meant taking a photo one-handed!!!

We also so Nessie on holiday (see the collage).in extras.

After the walk we went into the Lakeside for lunch.  We had ham hock hash with afried egg on top.  It was delciious and just the right size for a lunch time.

On heading back down the Lakes it looked stunning in the glorious sunshine.  As soon as we got to Grasmere however, the cloud descended and it got thicker greyer the further down the Lakes we went.  The fog lifted around Windermere but the greyness stayed with us all the way home.

So glad we decided to go - such a glorious day.  FABULOUS.

I hope you are all well.  Do stay safe and take care and I will see you tomorrow.

My thoughts today are with the people of Ischia in Italy - such a terrible landslide and so tragic.
