The Orange Buoy
One of those mornings with fog and no movement of air. The world seemed to be mono whereever one looked. Until I noticed the splash of orange.
The resulting shot still seemed lifeless so back home I have used some sofware to try to give it a different look.
The complete stillness made me think of the hundreds of wind turbines out in Morecambe Bay which will be producing little or no electric power.
As the weather has turned much colder there will be a surge of demand from late afternoon to mid evening.
It is for days like today that our electricity supplier has introduced a winter power saving scheme to avoid blackouts. We have volunteered to take part. When they think that they might not have enough power they will send an email to all those taking part and for a few hours at peak demand we will reduce our electricity use to a minimum. I gather we will receive some modest reward for doing this.
