Soft focus birthday

Ruth turned 35 today.
The photo doesn't really do it justice, being the result of some serious compromises with settings to suit very low light. I seem to have got Jack's specs in focus and possibly not much else :-)

But for me it captures the day's pleasures - the simple things, that can sometimes be so elusive. Getting together; sharing cake and the multiple blowings-out of candles; games of Monopoly (for Jack and Eben, both implacable in their tactics), and some music and dancing in the living room (for everyone else).
Ruth, Josh, Eben and Luca had a weekend away on the E Yorks coast, staying in a shepherd's hut and exploring local beaches and other seaside spots. This all went well, and they came back happy and relaxed.
