In 1996 the peruvian goverment under the actual president of Peru Alan Garcia began to build a "tren urbano" or a Metro for Lima. In the year 1990 they stopped the work also because of the guerilla war.

This far it exists a track of 9,8 km long with 5 fully equipped stations.

In octobre 2002 till septembre 2003 there was a regular comercial service, but stopped because of a lack of money. Some Internet resources are telling me that there still exists a comercial service at saturday and sunday, but I don't think so.

Actually what you see on the picture are the pillars for a bridge following the Av. Aviacion. And as I know there is nowhere building activity on this project. Eventought there would be a great need, because the traffic on the streets is just insupportable.
