Advent…

We’ve been with friends to the Advent service at St Martin- in-the -Fields this evening, a tradition we’ve kept for many years. Three years since our last time though due to the pandemic. No train strikes today and we arrived early and sat listening to the final choir rehearsal before the service began. Beautiful sounds.

We were asked the question this morning as the first candle of Advent was lit, Hope, will we view this Advent as another false dawn or will we allow the hope of glory in our hearts.

A very difficult message for many, experiencing dark days of pain, grief, anxiety and fear. Never dismissed or treated lightly. Always remembered.

A Ukrainian mother and her two young children have arrived to stay with my running friend and her husband. They joined us this morning. Tomorrow the children have their first day at their new school. They are five and seven years old. A big day for them.
