THE HOAD

Had to get up early today as Hubby had a scan for his AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm) today.  The good news is that it hasn't grown since last time.  He will eventually have to have an operation for it but we don't know when this is likely to be.  He is supposed to have a scan every 3 months, but it becomes more like 5 and only because he does all the chasing, yet it is a life threatening condition!!!  Anyway we will continue to chase and nothing can be done until it gets to a certain size anyway.

His appointment was for 9.10 this morning at the Furness General Hospital in Barrow.  Not somewhere I've been before.  Usually Hubby cancels the apoointment offered in Barrow and asks for it to be in ulverston , but due to the proposed strikes he couldn't be sure when he would get an appoinment or even if he would get one,  so we decided to go for it.

So there we were on a Sunday morning, end of Novembe in the car park at FGH.  It's a long walk from the car park to the main entrance.  We had trouble finding it as it's not well signposed if you're coming from Ulverston way.  Anyway we found it and he got there on time.

After his scan we went to Charnley's in Dalton-in-Furness for  breakfast.  Delicious.  Charnley's is a fairly small home and garden store with a great cafe.  We were lucky we got there about before 10 and there was only one table of 4 occupied.  When we it came time for us to leave i was almost full, so we got in just in time.

We then had a quick look around the store and especially in the Christmas Shop - it was really good for a small place and we had some fun.  I bought some Christmas decorations and a tree skirt. They have an offer that you you take a photo through a wreath (all signposed and marked) and post it on Instagram of FB thenyou oculd be put in a drawer to win £500 - so i may have a go at that.  You can see my sorry attempt a photo and hubby took one of me.  He had to duck to avoid hitting the Charnley's sign and I had to stand on tiptoe to be seen over the bottom of the wreath and I'm not that short, just 5'2"!!!  Still it was fun.  A family saw us taking photos and very kindly waited out of the way and then decided to join in the fun themselves. Yeah.

On the way yome we popped into Manjushri for something I needed.  I  took the main photo from the car whilst we were stopped at the traffic lights to join the main road out of Ulverston, which is why it isn't that great, but at least you can see what it is.  It dominates the Ulverston skyline and I think is rather lovely.

That's all from me for today.  Do take care and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.

RIP TO DODDIE WIER - very sad news today.  My thouoght are with his family and his loved ones.
