The Beginning
Most of the morning was spent visiting a pond restoration project and marking trees to be removed to minimise shading and leaf drop. We'd visited the site a couple of weeks age when both ponds were dry, but it was good to see quite a decent quantity of water in them today.
In the evening, Sarah, Ben, Alex, CJ and I went into Peterborough for this year's Luxmuralis light show at the Cathedral entitles 'The Beginning'. The blend of music and projected images was absorbing and occasionally spine-tingling for me. The first ten minutes included a variety of Christmas images and abstract patterns, but this was followed by a visual recount of The Nativity (see extras). This year it was clear and not too cold - perfect weather for an outdoor event. Last year there was heavy rain and very chilly conditions which made it more of an endurance test!
Once the outdoor projections had finished we all walked through up the nave of the Cathedral, which was richly lit with stained glass patterns. It all felt very surreal, and was quite difficult to photograph! We stayed for a while listening to the Christmas story while drinking mulled wine - a perfect way to start the festive season.
