Dunes National Recreation Area, Oregon

Our first experience with Oregon's Dunes National Recreation Area is in a word "overwhelming".

We climbed to the top of a 200 foot (70 meter) dune on the edge of Honeyman State Park.

It was one of the most strenuous activities we've undertaken in quite awhile.

Once we reached the top of the dune we began to realize how truly vast the dunes area actually is; the vista over the sand going out for miles is quite daunting.

I have a whole new appreciation for what sand dunes are and what they can be.

Awesome.
