Blowy
Today has been absurdly mild again for the time of year (12 years ago it snowed; reason I know this will be apparent tomorrow.) It was, however, increasingly wild, with a southerly wind gusting up the Firth and driving the sea onto our shore. We were both a bit wabbit this morning - sufficiently so to give ourselves Covid tests before we went out. Both were negative, so we got dressed more speedily than is usual for either of us and took ourselves back down to the church hall where we were last Saturday.
This time the pair of us were the dishwashers for our own church's Christmas Fair, a job we've opted into for years because it's predictable and saves us having to be nice if we don't feel like it. There's actually a great deal of banter to be had in the kitchen, with the three food servers (for want of a better name) rushing in and out for various goodies and making endless pots of coffee and tea. You stand around for a bit, washing the odd mug or plate, until suddenly someone appears with a tray piled with crockery and the real business begins ... But I had my Marigolds, and the water was hot, and Himself was doing the drying. I hate drying.
By the time we left, the wind had risen considerably and so had the tide, so that our drive back along the shore road was quite dramatic. The upper picture in the collage was taken through the side window of the car; the lower from the bedroom window to show what we'd been driving through. I always wonder at the people who leave their cars parked along there in this weather ...
We were both even more wabbit by the time we got home, so sat with the papers over lunch for well over an hour. Later I went out to the Post Office to post a card and came home with a bag of rice, and that was it. I think a further test may be in order tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed - I'm preaching and singing!
