Castle Cornet…

During the English Civil War Guernsey were Parliamentarians but Castle Cornet was Royalist. Being on opposing sides there was a fair bit of cannon fire from one to the other. Folk-Lore says that kids used to gather cannon balls and sell them back to the Royalists in the castle. But only at low tide because the castle emplacement connecting the castle to the island wasn’t built for another couple of hundred years.
I had to wait a few minutes until the lady obliged by walking across the road.
