Liberation Day

It is a bank holiday in Guernsey today as it was 68 years since the island was liberated from the German occupation. This is Town.
We had a busy day. Mark was preaching at the people's liberation service in Town (different to the service in the main church in Town which is for all the services and invited important people). Tracy, Jonathan and Sophie tackled their bedrooms. We had friends coming for lunch but plans changed as Mark came home to find that Tracy had sliced her thumb instead of the cauliflower and had done rather a good job of it. 30 mins later, when our friends arrived, the thumb was still bleeding profusely so our friends finished off the dinner and served it while Mark took me to A and E! Fab service. It was really rather busy but I was still out in 50 mins having had my finger glued and then steri-striped.
After lunch everyone, except Tracy, piled in the big car and went to town to enjoy liberation celebrations. The queues were huge though so on the way home they stopped at the farm that makes the best ice cream on island, brought 2 tubs and everyone had ice cream back at ours.
Our friends are now gone and it is bath time for the children and an Ascension Day service for Mark.
