The Dymchurch Dynamic

Hallelujah - we woke up this morning to a gloriously sunny winter's day! Such a joy after all that wet and gloomy weather. We decided that as the conditions were so favourable it had to be another trip back to the seaside and we settled on Dymchurch - somewhere we haven't ventured to for decades.
We took the scenic route via the Romney Marsh along the winding roads which pass through villages such as Appledore, Snargate, Brenzett, Old Romney and New Romney and then stopped for our first look at the sea at St Mary's Bay, with the nuclear power station at Dungeness in the distance on one side and the long sweeping curve of the shoreline stretching to the horizon towards Hythe and Folkestone on the other. What a magnificent sight in the fabulous winter sunlight.
After a short stroll along the beach for our first quick burst of coastal ozone we continued our journey on to Dymchuch where we parked the car next to the imposing structure of a Martello tower.
We then went for a long walk along the promenade taking in the wonderfully expansive views (this is where most of my images were taken). All of the beachside cafes and shops were closed for the winter but there is something I love about the dynamic of an out season seaside resort - it's effectively gone into a state of hibernation. I found it so easy to get images everywhere - there was also an amusement park which had been locked up for the winter - so I may have gone a bit overboard for today's blip!
After all that walking and image taking we had built up a thirst. The town itself was very quiet with the majority of shops and businesses shut but we did manage to find a pub open - the utterly appropriately named Ocean Inn - and enjoyed a pint sitting outside in the pub garden in the still sublime winter sunshine. I certainly didn't think I'd being doing that in the third week in November!
There was still time for a bag of chips sitting on the beach before we walked back along the promenade (where my last shot was taken) and set off for home.
