The next tranche
I’m not achieving much but I did make some lentil soup. We don’t feel ill but have no energy.
Yesterday I read “From Kelso to Kalamazoo”which is the memoir of a man, son of a shepherd, born at the end of 18th century who grew up and worked in the Kelso area before emigrating to USA in his 50s. It was interesting to read about the agricultural practices in the Borders, and how he walked to Edinburgh, saving the coach fare (50 miles) to buy books. It took 14 hours. He explained a lot about the schisms in the Church of Scotland and why the Free church broke away. He did well in Scotland as a nurseryman and travelled a lot. In Michigan he was famous for setting up the first celery farm.
A friend in Ireland sent me “Lessons in Chemistry” as she said it was a nice easy read and perfect for recovery.
