Soho
After a terrible night unable to sleep because of the heat we took a two minute journey to return the car to New Malden. As always, the team at Enterprise were lovely. However, there was no way I was going to attempt to squeeze the car between the two large vans parked out front. It went around the side. We walked home and I was on a call by 9:15am.
Just after 6pm we headed out into the sticky heat. It was still 28 degrees outside. The train indicator I bought a few months ago was showing delays and that’s exactly what we encountered. A signal failure elsewhere on the network resulted in ten first train we boarded terminating early and the next one making a slow crawl to Waterloo. We made it by 7pm and walked across to The Yard by 7:30pm where Phil was waiting for us.
It was a Monday night and Soho was a strange mix of busy in parts and very quiet in others. I really enjoyed being out and about in the city on a night like this. Given the heat, the pavement seating was very busy so we thought we’d join in and sit in the humid outside: people watching.
But then it started to rain. Lightly at first but once the lightening started it was very heavy. We decamped to an indoor table. I think the South of England will be delighted with the bit of rain. By the time we left at 10:30 it was back to hot and sticky. At least the trains were running.
