Deer

It occurred to me to see if all white-tailed deer have white circles around their eyes.
All white-tail deer have white circles around their eyes.
I still think that the deer I posted a picture of is distinctive, that her circles are particularly white and big. I went looking through my other pictures and they aren't all as white and big as hers.

I wrote to the woman who used to feed deer in the neighborhood. She thought it might be a deer she named Baby but thought Baby would be rather old. Deer do live that old, but usually not in the wild. I think it could be.

The leader of Armenia complained, in front of Putin, of the lack of help from Russia in dealing with Azerbaijan. Russia's influence is waning.

Putin said the mobilization was over. The men who fled Russia didn't believe him. The men who are hiding within Russia didn't believe him. We still have an IT man hiding in the woods in Russia, working with a satellite, and other Russian men hiding in the homes of relatives and friends. They don't believe him. He never did some legal thing that would officially end the mobilization. There is "chatter" that Russia may be planning another draft, possibly in December or January.

Russian regional leaders have written to Putin, demanding he stop mobilizing reservists to fight in Ukraine. They said the possibility of a second draft is increasing anxiety and have asked him to codify the end of the mobilization. This was done by two women who are party deputies for a liberal political party that opposes the war.

Speaking of women, there is a group of women challenging Putin. Russia's Mother's Day is Nov 27. The movement of family of mobilized and contract soldiers is known as the "council of Mothers and Wives is demanding their loved ones be brought home. They are demanding a meeting with Putin. It was revealed that Putin was going to hold a meeting with mothers of servicemen, but none of the members of Mothers and Wives were invited. They weren't invited because they behave aggressively and loudly. Verstka, an independent Russian media, interviewed family of mobilized Russians from different regions of the country, but found no family members who were invited to meet with Putin.

The final bit of tonight's news is .... we are hoping to recruit Russians to the CIA. The new deputy director of operations, in his very first speech, said the CIA is looking for Russians who are disgusted with the war in Ukraine to spy for us. Other former CIA officers have said the disaffection has been fertile ground for recruiting Russian military officials, oligarchs, and those who have fled Russia.
