Stir up Tuesday!
Well the good news is that Josie doesn't appear to have chicken pox after all, it's thought the rash could be a reaction to her vaccine, so she's back to nursery today and had a great day. On the topic of toddlers, who, at Startrite, decided it was a good idea using velcro to fasten toddler first shoes? Fair enough for children who have some understanding, but you try reasoning with a 14 month old!
Colin broke a tooth last night which was a brief crisis as he was due to go to stay with his mum today. He was needed as the carer is off duty and his sister is away. He phoned the dentist this morning and they fitted him in before lunch time. He's got a new, permanent filling and was only half an hour late in arriving in Banchory. I do find our practice to be good in emergencies.
Being no longer required to look after Josie I decided to make the Christmas puddings. The mix made three, including one in the F&M bowl I got a couple of years ago. The recipe I use is my grandmother's. My copy was typed out by my father and has years of stains on it. The original was given to my parents the first Christmas after their marriage in 1951.
I made a batch of some ricciarelli biscuits while doing the puddings, a new recipe I've not tried before. I decided after the alloted time that they needed longer in the oven, now they are dangerously explosive! Tasty though. The mix felt rather too runny so I'll have a look at the proportions next time I make them.
The final bit of food prep was a batch of veg soup, very tasty.
