on the wall

The cafe where I work is a converted church, and behind the counter is a beautiful stained glass window showing Enoch (in blue robes) and Simeon (in red). A little boy who came in recently pointed up at Simeon and said « Look Mummy, it’s Santa! ».

I was on the till this morning, with my back to the window, and colleague pointed out this scene on the opposite wall of the cafe - the red sun made by the real sun shining through Simeon’s robes, and the shadow of some wooden Christmas tree decorations in our shop. It was only a fleeting image, but I thought I’d capture it for posterity :-)

On the way into work, I was listening to the news of the arrival of Artemis at the moon, and NASA’s plans for journeying on to Mars in the future. Although I recognise that space travel is costly in terms of dollars and fuel, I do get quite excited at times like these. We are watching « For All Mankind » just now about the race for space (fictionalised version) and it’s excellent TV.
