Wittersham Road Station on the KESR

Back to Wittersham Road Signal Box on the Kent and East Sussex Railway again today for another learning turn at the signal box.

This is the view of the station from the signal box balcony with a down train in the platform waiting at the small down platform starting signal for an up train which is signalled to pass on the through line to the right. You've seen this engine before (1638) - a workhorse of the KESR.

It was a lovely day on the railway. Not least very enjoyable because of working in the signal box in such a beautiful and tranquil location but also because of the weather, which turned out to be fine after a drizzly start and the company of a friendly and knowledgable duty signalman.
