An opal jewel
I bought this pendant from Chris's antique shop, at his urging. He said I could have it for $40 and I said make it $35 and it's a deal.
I have no doubt that we're looking at real opals here. They are milky opals, about the size of a grain of rice. On the dark background (my tablet) I had to shine a torch on each side to bring out the colour flashes.
Then we have that row of five 'stones' in the middle. I don't know what they are - glass, zirconium, diamonds. They are truly tiny, 2mm max. And there's the gold coloured metal. I can't find a mark but there's not a speck of tarnish.
It's time that the Antiques Road Show came to Sydney. They'd sort it out.
