Another Adventure
We left home soon after 6:00 am. Traffic was light and everything was going along splendidly. Around 90 minutes into the trip, I dozed off and was quickly awakened to a loud weird sound from outside the rear of the car. Hubby pulled off onto the shoulder to inspect the situation. The road was a mess and he had driven over a section of broken up concrete pavement. The jolt popped the trailer hitch off the hitch ball and we were dragging the trailer with the chains, not far though. Of course, it was freezing cold and windy. Hubby is super organized and had everything he needed to put it back together, it just took awhile to get the trailer in the correct position. Whereas we were on track to get to the first game with an hour to spare, we got to the parking lot with five minutes to game time. It started before we found the field. Towards the end, Parker went for a score. One of the opponents went at him holding his stick with both hands and shoved it on Parker’s face mask full force knocking him down. As a result, the poor kid has a deep gash in his tongue and a cut on his chin. Not being able to look at blood, my son took the shot for me after the game. We were ahead by several points. Maybe the kid was taking out his frustration but all he got was a penalty. We won that game 8-3. Parker was unable to play in the second and third games. My son says his tongue and bottom lip are so swollen he can’t eat at all. They lost one and won the other. They were supposed to play a championship game but it was getting dark. Hubby and I left after game 2 hoping we could get to our hotel before dark but that will not happen. Our ETA is 7:30. I brought chicken salad for lunch. We were invited to our son’s for dinner last night after Mass which worked out well for today. Can’t remember when our BIL wrote to us last night. We are staying at a hotel because all the country WV roads we have to travel on to get to the farm are a sheet of ice. It is too dangerous to make that part of the trip in the dark especially since we have the trailer. We’ll get a good night’s sleep and head out once the sun is up. So, this is how we spent our 23rd wedding anniversary and we wouldn’t expect it to be one bit different in this adventure we call life. There is a restaurant next to the hotel and I bought hubby’s favorite cake for dessert. Life is good! Wishing you a great week ahead.
