Torta della nonna

Fab day. 
It started with a partial train journey. It was meant to be a complete trip from home (Newcastle) to Lancaster but, due to a derailed train, the Newcastle to Carlisle route is out of action until 6th December. So my poor hubby came off a night shift and accompanied me to Carlisle & back. I proceeded by train from Carlisle to Lancaster through beautiful Lakeland scenery. 
I was on my way to see my daughter who is enjoying her 4th (Masters) year  at Uni & has a wonderful city centre studio with A. 

We had a lovely walk by the canal and then daughter & I went shopping for other daughter's birthday next weekend. We also had a Nutella pancake from the French van and a lovely coffee.

On the evening, we had a fantastic meal at Buccelli's with A's dad and brother! I was transported back to Rome with a bottle of Frascati wine, deep fried fior di zucca and this dessert!!!!
