Oxymoron
This is my latest rant at the antics of the food marketing fraternity.
I recently bought some dried apricots which were sour but described on the packet as “tangy”. Such a better alternative to “sour” or “inedible”.
The featured photo shows a box of cereal described as both “The Original” and having a “New Improved Recipe”. Which is it? Surely those two features are mutually exclusive?
This extract from Wikipedia describes another change in formula dating back to 2013.
“In May 2013, shoppers disapproved of the altered Special K formula, complaining that the cereal's flakes are too hard. The reason behind the extra crunch is the additional ingredient, barley. Kellogg shoppers also complained that the cereal has become too sugary. The company assures that the sugar content has remained the same (17%), the difference is that some of the sugar is baked on the outside of the flake, giving an added crunch.”
“The Original “ my foot.
