The falling leaves etc

Looks like I've killed my avocado plant off  after all these years ;(;(;( 
With any luck the new shoots might survive.
A few days ago I saw a lovely blip of someone's grandsons graduation.
I dont follow them and forgot who It was.I wanted to add a heart but I didn't then and have lost the plot !!!
Any ideas from a senile grandma :(:(:(
