Ah yes, the seemingly simple universal reminder to stop. When I saw this today I remembered a great piece of advice that my brother gave me almost a year ago. He said: "Sometimes you come to a crossroads but you don't need to choose left or right - you can also just put the car in park and pause."

And it's true, isn't it? It's not that you stop at a "stop" sign so much as pause, look in both directions, consider which way to go, if you'll wait for someone to pass, and then move on.
