First of the year

As predicted, today's weather was somewhat different to yesterday's, so no wandering round snapping beautiful people lying in the sun today! In fact no photo at all all day, so this is the clematis by our front door as an emergency last-minute shot. Noteworthy though is that today is the first time one of the flowers has opened, so maybe it is spring after all.

I also saw the first slug of the year in the front garden, grrrr. I wouldn't mind if they ate the dandelions - how do they know what the weeds are and what's precious, and why do they eat the wrong ones?
