Caley at Achaderry

Its been pretty dull and over cast for much of today. I took Caley for a quick evening stretch at Achaderry.

The yellow boy wasn't complaining but it was really dark for early evening. F5.6 is still quite a big aperture, and in film terms at least ISO 400 is still pretty fast but here the camera was wanting 1/80 of a second shutter speed which is virtually hopeless for a fast moving dog. Any way I had to get him to stand very still to first focus and then push the button. A technical discussion for another time but I don't think this camera "likes" ISOs any higher than this. With a wider aperture, if Caley had moved forward an inch, his nostrils would have penetrated the DOF envelope. Basically, its difficult (for me) to get a photo of a dog in the dark.
