A slightly frenzied start to the day to get Alex out to his match. A must win bottom of the table match up with his 2nd bottom team taking on the basement team Lothian Colts.
I cycled out to watch proceedings; just a long sleeved t shirt required in the bright November morning as I wound my way along the coast.
The pitches are next to the battlefield at Prestonpans; I don't think the coach asked for a re enactment but whatever he said, the boys raced into a 5 goal lead after only 8 minutes!
So a pleasant hour in the sunshine; well - for Spartans at least. All the fringe players got an extended run out as the mismatch became a rout.
Alex went back on in the second half as a striker and netted his first goal in 4 years - the keeper failing to hold onto his shot, dropping it behind him and over the line. His second goal was a more refined affair; a nice lob from the edge of the area that gently arced over the poor goalie and into the postage stamp corner. 26-0 it ended....
After lunch, Tom went off out to meet Holly at her's and I pottered about with laundry, dishes and a roast dinner.
