The Leysin Sentinel.

I have often photographed this tree in the winter but this is the first time in the autumn, such a handsome tree with Mont d’Or on the left and Pic Chaussy on the right. I went to visit an old friend whose husband was a well known animal photographer. Sadly he is suffering from dementia and is now in a home. His wife wanted me to see if I could use any of his equipment but it is too heavy for me. She has given me some camouflage gear though, which I shall use, a good way to keep Eugene’s enthusiasm alive for me. Dementia is such a cruel disease for all concerned. 40 years ago he let me use his ropes to abseil to a point where I could see the wallcreepers (tichodrome muraria) and I managed to get the extra photo after 6 hours of trying and 4 films of 36 with 800ASA! Thank you Eugene, I haven’t come close to capturing this little bird since!
