Scarlet Fever

... that's what Katie has, mildly. She isn't sun-burnt. She woke up crying quite a bit in the night. By morning, her cheeks were bright red, her face was puffy, her rash was on a lot of her body and her temp was back up. A doctor's appointment was made immediately they opened. I was really impressed. While they didn't have an available appointment left by the time I got through, they put us in at the end of the surgery. They rang back ten minutes later with a cancellation.

Katie's only trips to the doctor that she is aware of were for injections so she was quite upset at going and refused to come out of the meitai at first. She sat and read a story with me but when we went in she was hugely unimpressed at having her temp taken, ears checked. It was a bit of a battle to get her throat checked. She has a nasty strep throat and temperature. So now has her first antibiotics. Which is not impressing her in the slightest. She took the first one vaguely tolerantly. The second time she got so upset she threw up all over herself.

Aside from the medicine, she's impressively jolly to say how poorly she apparently is. She's done lots of playing and colouring, and went out for a bit of a try on her bike. I took the stabilisers off yesterday as they were more of a hinderance to her than a benefit. She's doing well! She spent a lot time playing playdoh and quite a lot of time dancing to her music. She was very pleased when her ear defenders turned up for a trip we're taking in June. She was even more pleased that they came with a little bag that she's been proudly carrying everywhere and has filled with treasures.
