Fibre cable installation

Our phone and broadband supplier decided recently that it was time for us to upgrade to modern fibre cable and today the engineers arrived. ( our third appointment and now sub contracted !)  

The weather was atrocious and I felt sorry for the outside pair while the girl doing the inside job chatted to me.
I was impressed that their van had a cherry picker on top which allowed them to lift the 60 metres of cable over our trees from the pole at the bottom of the garden- something the last engineer couldn’t do. 

What the last engineer did tell me though was that the pole at the bottom of the garden was amazingly put there in 1908 ( see extra ) and I wonder if the copper cable that has been left alongside the fibre one may have been there all that time, just 5 years after the house was built.

Unfortunately once all installed they discovered that there was a fault at the exchange affecting more than just our house so I am waiting for a red light on the box of tricks to turn green. Super fast Wi-Fi speed will just have to wait!
