The Thicket

It was another beautiful day so this afternoon I took myself off to Maidenhead Thicket, which is owned by the National Trust. Apparently ‘thicket’ means a dense group of bushes or trees. It seems like a wood or a forest to me, so I’m not sure why it’s called a thicket! It’s a beautiful place to walk on a carpet of leaves. And of course I stopped and sat on a fallen log and enjoyed my flask of tea and a piece of cake!
