Old hórreo
The main photo is a detail of the front wall of what is said to be the oldest hórreo in this locality. It´s highly decorated, which is why I chose it to show here, and is said to be in "the Villaviciosa style", whatever that involves. I don´t know it´s age but if it´s the oldest it was built before 1645, which is the date of another less decorated, hórreo, the date-mark of which is shown in extra 1. Also in extras I´ve included a picture of a couple of hórreos in a village street, because I was asked for a fuller view of them.
And - sorry to be pedantic - technically they´re not hórreos, they´re pañeras. The difference is that an hórreo has a peaked roof and a pañera has a ridged roof.
