Ripon Cathedral

Drove through the fog to visit friends in Ripon. Whilst there we took the opportunity to visit the 'Threads through Creation' exhibition in the cathedral. 

A stunning sequence of twelve enormous embroidered panels that explore the story of the Creation. Inspired by the verses of Genesis, textile artist Jacqui Parkinson reimagines the ancient story in a stunning combination of eight million stitches, layers of silk, hand-dyed materials, metallic leathers and gold leaf. It is one of the largest textile projects by a single artist and is in Ripon cathedral until 20th November. Fabulous.
