More Strong Words From James And A Celebration
If thought James had some strong words for the church body last week, I think you might find this week's language even stronger. But I will get to that in due time. We began our service with congregational singing to prepare our hearts and minds for worship. After some welcoming words and a prayer from Matt, the choir and orchestra presented an uplifting arrangement of "Standing On The Promises", directed by Debbie since Daniel is out of town this weekend. We finished the music portion of our service with more congregational praise and then Pastor Wes took us to the stronger passage in James that I mentioned earlier. He reminded us of what James had to say to the church last week about how we deal with each other in the church body and then got down to some hard truths about how we are to deal with the world outside the church. He explained what it means to be friends with the world and an enemy of God and how that can never change our relationship to God if we have truly become His child, though it can affect our fellowship with Him during our earthly life and rob us of the blessings of His daily grace. I recommend that you watch the Live-stream to see what Pastor Wes said about it. The celebration part of the day happened this evening as we had a modern version of the old-fashioned "pounding" to welcome Chris and Denise Gary serve with us at FBC. We are so blessed to have them here and look forward to many years of service with them. I have included the shot of my favorite veteran praying at the altar, thanking God for a very special blessing. You can ask him about it and he will be glad to tell you about it......
