Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 252

Come on in the water's warm - honestly. So says Yates the bravest labrador cross whose head is barely visible in the choppy waters. The other two manifest lesser degrees of conviction about the wisdom of the warmth of the Firth of Forth this morning. Despite the waves driven shorewards by a strong easterly breeze the air was very warm. One young lady was so happy with this warmth that she emerged from her salty swim and proceeded to cartwheel along the sands. The regular dog walkers were less energetic but very happy to stop and chat on such a balmy morning. Their owner told me that Yates, and his "siblings" , were all former guide dogs. They stay in Dalkeith but come down to the beach whenever they can as Yates in particular is a real sea dog!
