Fighting gulls

Today was beautiful - blue-skied and warm .  I spent part of it at Lakeside watching the birds.  These two black-headed gulls were on the main lake and already in their winter plumage.  They were fighting over who got to sit on top of one of the big buoys.  There were also smaller buoys, occupied by other gulls, but it was the big ones that the fighting was happening over.  In extras you can see the result, taken half a second later!

I also sat and talked to a very eldery couple who were trying to feed the geese with bits of banana.  The geese were not impressed.
