Spring Ride - Day 4

After overnight in Whakatāne (WH is pronounced as F) staying at the motel that was used for the White Island tours which due an eruption no longer happen but I was fortunate enough to go on a tour a couple of years prior to the eruption.
On leaving Whakatāne we dropped off the main road to a beach where the island is visible along with the plume of vapour rising to the sky.
Google street view have been there although I found it tricky to navigate.

It was to be an easier days riding and as we were staying at Tauranga's Mount Maunganui area which was too short a ride we headed inland and had lunch at Lake Rotorua and rode back to Tauranga through Mangorewa Gorge which was a magnificent ride on excellent roads.
The weather was once again glorious.
