Compost in the making

The flat was busy again with two sets of workmen, plus Jackie making her regular Thursday morning visit to help with our cleaning.

The first workman arrived at 9:00am to upgrade our burglar alarm. He was here for about five hours, during which he roved back and forth from room to room. This made it very difficult for the rest of us to settle anywhere to do anything productive.

At 5:00pm Jaimi was back with mastic man Willie to apply sealant to the new bathroom. Jaimi also completed some other wee jobs such as fixing a door stop to ensure that anyone opening the bathroom door does not smash it into the shower screen. By the time the pair of them left, only a couple of jobs remain for our building team to complete. The main ones are to edge the floor tiles at the entrance to the bathroom, and to install the (replacement) heated towel rail (which is still on order). From tomorrow, we can use the shower, lavatory, and basin - hurrah!

In the couple of hours that we were free of workers, I had a Teams call with Rachel in the US to help her prepare for a job interview next week, wrote some feedback on a funding proposal for Bruce, and made arrangements to travel to London next month to give a talk at the British Library.

I also managed an hour or so in the garden to sweep (even more) leaves. Thankfully the big sycamore tree has almost finished its shed-fest. I think that we will just about manage to fit all the leaves that are left to fall into the remaining space in our compost bin (blipped). While I was outside, Mr hazelh made a start on restoring our guest bedroom to a state that means that we can receive visitors again.

We watched the end of the second Enola Holmes film this evening. It's not as good as the first.

Exercise today: 5k run.
