I managed to spend almost the entire day digging and rubbing my hands in shit today. I was trying to work manure into the soil of a new flowerbed I was creating but the soil was so clumped together by tiny roots that I threw down the spade and rubbed it in with my hands.
What I've ended up with is a gorgeous, moist, plant-ready squidge.
I was followed around all day by a robin who got more and more confident and eventually was picking up worms under my arm. I wasn't allowed to photograph him though. He went off in a huff every time I got my camera. (I don't know why I've assumed it's a he.)
We've had glorious weather again today, but we're just watching the weather forecast and it looks like rubbish weather is on the way. Boo...
I sowed some fennel and dill this afternoon and put some lupins, delphiniums and foxgloves in the ground this evening. I found an online nursery that sells no nonsense little plants for about a pound or so each.
Richard mowed what's left of the lawn today (I've got rid of quite a lot of it!) and has seemed much more like himself today. He's only had one coughing fit - that I've noticed.
I've been told to go to bed now.
