What bird could this be?

Gardening in a sunny yard, I found this little fellow that I had never seen before. Mainly grey with white rings around the eyes. No tit, the beak was very thin and short. Small black (with white) mark on the outer wings. And very restlessly hopping from branch to branch, that explains the bad shots. Not a wren either as the tail never stood up.

Any ideas?
