Getting ready for Christmas?

Last night I went to a little craft group and they had things for us to make little Christmas stockings to hang on a Christmas tree. The result is in the blip. This group makes things for the Christmas Bazaar held at the local church hall and also for various other fairs and charities during the year. A friend who I know from a quilting grouo also came. It’s all ladies of a certain age…ie I think they are all retired. The aim was to make one yourself and then if possible to make more to sell at the bazaar on a few weeks time. As it took me an hour to make I’m not sure that will be very cost effective as I guess they would only sell them for £1 max? It makes you realise how long hand sewing takes and for any handmade items made abroad the sewers must be paid a pittance.  I may make two more, so as to have one for each grand child. For the last few years I have bought them something for the Christmas tree…maybe I will put 2022 on the other side.

Today we have had our new quartz kitchen worktops fitted. I was very apprehensive about it as it is very expensive ( but a fraction of the cost of a new kitchen). They took out the sink and the hob, cut the worktops to fit and placed them over the existing ones then refitted the sink and hob. The two fitters were lovely, they came from Swansea leaving home at 5am, and were such efficient workers doing all the cutting in the garden. A good thing it was not raining today but they did say they had a gazebo for when it does! All finished by 2.30 and it makes our 12 year old kitchen look nearly new. Having cleared all the clutter off the worktops the challenge now is to keep them uncluttered. See part of the kitchen in the extra.
