Mid terms

I’ve been listening on Audible to the acclaimed biography of Lyndon Baines Johnson by William (?) Caro. At four volumes it’s not for the faint-hearted but is a riveting history of 20th century America and an unblinking analysis of LBJ’s life, ambitions and his ways of getting there.

And so to the mid term elections which feel far and away the most consequential of the last few years the psychodrama of the Tories and the rise of Giorgia Meloni notwithstanding.

I bought a new pair of mountain boots in Poppi market this morning. I moved up from the lightweight Grisport boots I’ve had to a proper Scarpa boot. Read into that what you will as we wait for the election results. If you don’t hear from me I’ll be off grid.
