Bird Watching

We drove over to Hilliers Garden Centre this morning to meet Maureen and Ian.  The place was packed with no four-seater tables available inside the large restaurant.   This is surprising for a cool, damp, windy November weekday.  There were plenty of outside tables so we sat under the awning and had a cup of coffee.  The original plan was to have lunch but were told if we are eating outside it would be a limited menu.  So after coffee we had a look round the flower gardens, not many flowers on show unsurprisingly, then M&I left.

Ann and I went back through the gardens to the bird hide which was empty. At first there was not a lot of activity, though there was plenty of food available for the birds.  Then a woodpecker took over one of the feeders and settled down for his lunch.  This was followed by other birds and there was then plenty to watch including this grey wagtail exploring the small pond.
