London lights

A trip to London this afternoon for a meeting, returning to Waterloo under a full moon. Passing this classic street light  outside the Royal Courts of Justice, I thought here's a nice blip subject. There are street lamps of this type still running on gas elsewhere in Westminster but this one has been converted to electricity. It still looks splendid though when lit up, even if it lacks the warm glow and evocativeness of gaslight. I now need to see if the lamp standard dates back to when Queen Victoria opened the Courts in the1880s.
